If food waste were a country, it would be the third-highest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions after the United States and China. California lawmakers recognized the risks associated with landfilled food waste and passed Senate Bill 1383. This law requires organic waste collection and recycling services to divert 75 percent of the state’s organic waste from landfills by 2025. We’ve worked with Anaergia, an industry leader in solving waste problems, to fund and develop the Rialto Bioenergy Facility, the largest landfill-diverted organic-waste digester facility in North America.
Part of that partnership involved making a series of high-quality explainer videos about the food waste problem, the ambitious state mandate, and how we will meet those goals.
