The Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) awarded MHX Leasing LLC (MHX) $1.9M for the deployment of 10 Class 8 semis and $560,000 to help deploy two overhead electric cranes.
MHX sought funding from the MSRC’s Zero & Near-Zero-Emission Trucking-to-Warehouse, Distribution, & Intermodal Facilities in Riverside & San Bernardino Counties grant program to support the purchase and deployment of 10 battery-electric Class 8 Semis as a part of its efforts to electrify its fleet of trucks in the South Coast Air Quality Management District. To charge these vehicles, MHX will also purchase, install, and operate two “Megachargers” at its MHX-Napa Fontana distribution facility in Fontana, California.
MHX also sought funding from MSRC’s Zero & Near-Zero Emission Cargo Handling Equipment & Infrastructure at Warehouse, Distribution, & Intermodal Facilities in Riverside & San Bernardino Counties grant program. MHX will use this funding to help purchase and deploy two indoor, zero-emission overhead cranes at its MHX-Napa Fontana distribution facility in Fontana, California. The new cranes will supplement two existing indoor overhead electric cranes and enable MHX to eliminate four outdoor, diesel-powered forklifts that produce harmful emissions and generate loud noises.
For help formulating these projects and applying for funding, MHX turned to Sacramento-based Momentum.
