SACRAMENTO, CA. – August 20, 2021 – Momentum was founded in 2005 as The Grant Farm with a simple mission to secure funding for projects that would save the planet from climate change.

Since then, the company has grown and focused beyond just winning public funds. Momentum founders Shawn Garvey and Mark Filimonov have brought together an expert team to execute long-term strategic planning and holistic clean tech program development.

The vision of a Momentum Campaign is the brainchild of Momentum VP Ethan Hanohano. Hanohano looked at all the different projects Momentum was working on and identified an opportunity to help clients accomplish more.

“We were doing good work, but it was all reactionary. Oh, this agency is asking for projects like this, so we’d do a grant proposal. I saw to move forward net-zero carbon emission future we needed our clients to be proactive – and we needed to help them get there,” Hanohano said.

As a result of lots of hard work and forward-thinking on behalf of the Momentum leadership team, a new framework for developing cleantech programs was born, and two clients, MHX and Aemetis, have already signed on.

In addition to these large-scale campaigns, Momentum also assisted 13 clients in receiving California Energy Commission Blueprint grants to plan their transition to clean energy.

Momentum started at the Grant Farm in 2005 and focuses on holistic cleantech program development.

Some significant projects Momentum is involved in are:

  • Demonstrating more than 100 zero- and near-zero emission vehicles at the ports of Long Beach, Oakland, and Stockton
  • Developing the West Coast MHD Electric Highway, a medium- and heavy-duty electric charging corridor from Mexico to Canada
  • Building a pipeline system and clean-up plant to capture and process methane from dairy farms and turn it into renewable natural gas
  • Building the largest waste-to-energy facility in North America
